How to Install Novell NetWare 6.5 SP8 from a DVD or CD Image
Novell NetWare 6.5 SP8 is a service pack for the NetWare operating system that includes updates and enhancements for various products and services. It is also part of the Open Enterprise Server 2 SP1 package that provides a comprehensive suite of enterprise-level solutions for networking, storage, security, and collaboration.
If you want to install Novell NetWare 6.5 SP8 on your server, you will need to download the DVD or CD image files from the Internet Archive or the Novell website and burn them to a disk. You will also need to verify the integrity of the downloaded files using an MD5-based checksum utility. In this article, we will show you how to do that step by step.
Step 1: Deciding What to Download
The DVD and CD image files listed below are the same NetWare installation media files that are distributed with Novell Open Enterprise Server 2 SP1. If your server has a DVD drive, or if you are installing NetWare in a Xen virtual machine, you should download the DVD image file. Otherwise, you need both of the CD image files.
Files to DownloadLabel

Step 2: Downloading the OES Software
On the Novell NetWare 6.5 SP8 Downloads page on the Internet Archive, or the Novell NetWare 6.5 SP8 Downloads page on the Novell website, click the Download button next to the file you want.
Follow the on-screen prompts to download the file to a directory on your machine.
Repeat steps 1 and 2 until you have downloaded all the files you need.
After downloading and burning the images to CD or DVD, label the disks as indicated in the table above.
Step 3: Verifying the Integrity of Downloaded Files
To ensure a successful installation, you must compare each downloaded file's MD5 value with the value listed on the NetWare 6.5 SP8 Downloads page. You can use any MD5-based checksum utility for this purpose.
On a Linux system at the shell prompt, enter the following command:md5sum filenamewhere filename is the name of the file you are verifying.
On a Windows system, obtain a Windows-compatible MD5-based checksum utility from the Web and follow the usage instructions for the utility.
If the MD5 values match, proceed to the next step. If they do not match, download the file again and repeat this step.
