On December 7, 1962, Sinatra recorded his first solo album for Liberty Records called Sinatra Sings for Only the Lonely. He had previously recorded for Capitol under the name Frank Sinatra and the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, and had also recorded for Dean Martin. Most of the songs were by Billy Rose. The album featured Frank Sinatra on lead vocals. Sinatra recorded several more albums during the late 1960s and early 1970s for Liberty Records, most famously the Songs for Only the Lonely, and My Kind of Broadway albums. The first of these three albums was released in 1968 and became Sinatra's first gold record. Sinatra also recorded for MCA Records and Columbia Records. After years of working for the label he is most associated with, Columbia, Sinatra left Columbia to go work for Warner Brothers in 1978. Sinatra left for Columbia in 1992, and stayed with the label until his death in 1998.

Sinatra was not only a tremendous singer, but also a seasoned actor. His range as an actor was rare, and he was one of the best used in his time. In addition to numerous films and television shows in which he has appeared throughout his career, Sinatra has made a few guest appearances on television shows such as The Andy Griffith Show, The Lucy Show, The Dick Van Dyke Show, Daniel Boone, The Red Skelton Hour, The Beverly Hillbillies, I Spy, The West Wing, and Friends. He had a recurring role on the sitcom The Golden Girls, and a part in the film The Toy. He appeared in the films Serpico, Blue Eyes, Pulp Fiction, and The Mexican 827ec27edc
